ヴェネツィア派
バッサーノ地方である。父親から絵画を学び、ヴェネツィアへ出て、工房にて修行。1540年代からは故郷バッサーノへもどって、工房を構えた。
・息子たちもヤコポ・バッサーノに倣った画風であり、帰属がよくわからない作品も少なくないようである。

聖ルキアの洗礼を施す聖ウァレンティヌス
1577
バッサーノの代表作の一つ。
3世紀ローマの聖人で、Vielliebchen（＝よく愛される者）に名前の由来をもつ聖ウァレンティヌスが、聖女ルキアに洗礼を施す場面を描いたもの。
ティエポロが、本作で用いられる豊かで大胆な色彩の表現に驚愕したとの逸話も残されているという。
